Hittite from a synchronic perspective. In the tutorial, students read transliterated texts and improve their knowledge of Hittite descriptive grammar (syllabic cuneiform, phonemic system, syntactic phonetics = sandhi, nominal, adjectival, and pronominal declension patterns, verbal system, other parts of speech, basic syntactic structures) and their understanding of the historical development of Hittite. When they switch to reading transcribed texts, they improve their knowledge of syllabic writing and the synchronic Hittite system in general.

Hittite from a diachronic perspective. Development of the PIE phonemic system via Proto-Anatolian into Hittite with special attention to the mutual influence between vowel/consonant quality and accent. Proto-Anatolian *o. The issue of the centum-satem reflexes in Anatolian languages. The issue of *H2 and *H3 in Anatolian languages. The PIE labiovelars in Anatolian languages.
